Southern Sweden triggers electricity support as prices cross threshold

Sweden has activated electricity-price protection for households in its southernmost electricity area after October's average spot price exceeded SEK 1.50 per kilowatt-hour. The government still needs to adopt a support regulation before introducing the payment scheme.
The announcement on 30 October applies to electricity area SE4. The threshold is measured across a calendar month, rather than against an individual household's bill or a single day's price.
The government says it intends to give the responsible authorities a preparatory assignment to organise payments to households. Its announcement does not specify a payment date or the amount individual households will receive.
