Households in southern Sweden could qualify for electricity support for October if average prices stay above the scheme’s threshold until the month ends, Energy Minister Ebba Busch said on Thursday.

The average price so far this month is above the support threshold in electricity price area 4, Busch told a press briefing with the Swedish Energy Agency.

Sveriges Radio reports that the minister made household support conditional on the average remaining high enough through the end of October. A qualifying month has therefore not yet been established.

The minister and the agency also warned that high electricity prices could affect households and businesses over the winter. Thursday’s statement concerned potential household support in the southern price area; it did not announce a payment date.
