Households in Kumla and Hallsberg should store drinking water today and use less from Monday, after damage to a supply pipe put deliveries at risk. The advice excludes private wells and residents of Hjortkvarn, Björnhammar and Vretstorp.

Krisinformation says to allow at least three to five litres per person per day for drinking and cooking, and to keep reserves in bottles or containers. Pets also need water.

Repair work starts on Monday, 26 October. The municipalities say the supply from Lake Tisaren will be shut off during the work, leaving production dependent on groundwater. That can limit how much drinking water the system produces if repairs take time.

The water remains safe to drink. Residents should take shorter showers, turn off taps while brushing their teeth, avoid washing dishes under running water and run full washing machines and dishwashers.
