The affected area includes parts of Blekinge, Kronoberg, Jönköping, Östergötland, Södermanland, Örebro, Västmanland, Stockholm, Uppsala and Kalmar counties.

SMHI's warning says forests and ground remain dry. Fires may start from outdoor burning, sparks from machinery or lightning, and can spread easily.

The weather agency also says fires in power-line corridors could disrupt electricity and telecom services. It advises people to check whether local fire bans apply and to take great care with anything that can create flames or sparks.

Local rain showers may reduce the risk temporarily in some places, but the warning remains active across the named area. The photograph accompanying this article is a file image of damage from the 2014 Västmanland wildfire, not a current fire.
