Ulf Kristersson’s Moderates have drawn within 0.7 percentage points of the Social Democrats in Indikator Opinion’s October poll, with 26.3% support against 27% for the Social Democrats.

The survey, reported by Sveriges Radio’s Ekot on Thursday, puts the Moderates 6.5 points above their election result. Indikator’s opinion chief Per Oleskog Trygvasson said the party was attracting voters from its Tidö allies as well as the Centre Party and Social Democrats.

The four Tidö parties together lead the Social Democrats, Left, Greens and Centre by 3.5 points. But the Liberals’ 3.8% puts them below parliament’s 4% threshold, leaving the Tidö parties without a seat majority in the calculation reported by Ekot.

Social Democrat party secretary Tobias Baudin linked the result to impatience over forming a government, while cautioning against drawing sweeping conclusions from one poll.
