Busch rejects Centre-led government and backs Kristersson

Ebba Busch has rejected the proposed government that includes her own Christian Democrats, saying the party will vote against Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist as prime minister and continue backing Ulf Kristersson.
In her Thursday statement, reported by SvD, Busch said the conditions for the centrist government explored by Thand Ringqvist did not exist. Those talks had sought a government led by Magdalena Andersson.
Busch nevertheless said the Christian Democrats remained ready to take part constructively in forming a government. She based that offer on what she described as a right-and-centre majority in parliament.
Her refusal exposes a division within the Speaker's proposed line-up, which names Centre, the Social Democrats, Christian Democrats, Greens and Liberals. Naming those parties does not mean they have agreed to govern together.
MPs will vote on 3 November at 13:00. The nomination fails if at least 175 vote against; a party can therefore help a candidate pass by abstaining. Busch has committed KD to an active no vote, while keeping Kristersson as its choice for prime minister.
