Christian Democrat leader Ebba Busch says talks are under way on forming a centre-right government, after Magdalena Andersson ended her latest attempt to reach a governing agreement.

Busch told Sveriges Radio on Tuesday that she saw a possible way forward and was working directly with the parties involved. She described good conversations with several parties, without announcing a coalition deal.

Last week Busch appeared in a photograph with Centre Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist after the two had visited a sauna together. Her latest comments confirm political talks but do not establish which parties would support a government.

The immediate parliamentary test remains Andersson’s nomination. The Riksdag will vote at noon on Thursday, 15 October, on making the Social Democrat leader prime minister of a government consisting only of her party.
