Threatening letter demands Mohamed Ali leave parliament

Left Party MP Mohamed Abdukardir Ali has received a threatening letter at home demanding that he leave Sweden's parliament, his party says.
Ali shared a photograph of the letter on Facebook on Sunday, 4 October. It told him: “Leave parliament or we will help you do it”, Aftonbladet reports.
Party secretary Maria Forsberg said Ali had received threatening correspondence at home and that the threat had been reported to police. She promised the party's full support, describing threats against politicians as damaging to democracy.
Sweden's security service, Säpo, has taken over an investigation into suspected unlawful threats linked to Borlänge. Police confirmed the takeover to P4 Dalarna, but would not publicly identify Ali as the person concerned. Säpo told Aftonbladet that the complainant was someone under its protection and that a national security prosecutor was leading the investigation.
Ali was elected for Dalarna in September. His campaign has been linked in reporting to a separate investigation into suspected electoral fraud. He has denied involvement, and TT reported that he had not been formally notified of criminal suspicion.
He has requested two weeks' leave from parliament. In his September statement, Ali said the request did not mean he was resigning or admitting guilt.
