Swedish Centre Party MEP Abir Al-Sahlani has filed a police report against Danish MEP Kristoffer Storm over a social-media comment telling her to go home.

The exchange followed an EU Parliament debate in which members of the far right chanted in favour of sending people back. Al-Sahlani, who is Swedish and was born in Iraq, said the episode made her feel unsafe in parliament.

TV4 reported that the complaint concerns suspected agitation against an ethnic or national group.

Storm, who represents the Denmark Democrats, dismissed the complaint and accused Al-Sahlani of seeking attention and wasting public resources.

A police report is an allegation, not a finding that a crime occurred. No charging decision or legal judgment has been reported. The story nevertheless concerns the treatment and safety of an elected Swedish representative inside a democratic institution.
