Most patients are under 18, and a majority were unvaccinated, according to SVT. All had attended Urkult in Västernorrland between 30 July and 1 August.

The affected regions are Jämtland Härjedalen, Skåne, Stockholm, Västerbotten, Gotland, Värmland, Västernorrland, Västra Götaland and Sörmland.

The Public Health Agency says measles is highly contagious and can sometimes cause severe illness. Anyone who attended Urkult should watch for fever, cough, eye irritation or a rash, and phone healthcare services before visiting in person if measles is suspected.

Health officials are also asking adults born in the 1970s to check whether they have full protection. Two vaccine doses provide strong protection, and vaccination is available in every Swedish region.
