The flood warning says regional and local roads, cycle paths and footpaths may flood, along with a large number of homes, businesses, garages and farm buildings. A separate orange high-flow warning covers eastern Norrbotten through Friday.

SMHI says prolonged rain has saturated the ground. It warns of local flood damage, very fast-moving water and increased risks of landslides, erosion and damage to roads, buildings and viaducts.

People should not drive through standing water and should protect exposed properties. The agency also advises clearing storm drains and other water routes.

There is still uncertainty about where the heaviest rain will fall. SVT reported the alert on Wednesday afternoon.
