Swedish-Iranians who criticised Iran’s rulers from Sweden say the state has confiscated homes, inheritances and other assets they held in Iran. One woman says the pressure has also reached her relatives.

Several residents described the seizures to Sveriges Radio, which reported on Monday that pressure on opposition figures abroad had increased since the war against Iran began.

A woman identified as Maria said an inherited apartment had been confiscated and her Iranian identity number and bank account blocked. Relatives in Iran had been summoned for questioning.

Her account describes how criticism voiced from Sweden can carry costs across a border: property becomes inaccessible while family members remaining in Iran face pressure.
