More than 2.7 million vote early before Sweden's election

More than 2.7 million people had voted early in Sweden by Thursday, three days before the country's Riksdag, regional and municipal elections.

That was up from 2.1 million at the same point in 2022, a 25% increase so far, Election Authority chief Anna Nyqvist told TV4 News. The authority had not established why participation had risen.

Early voting remains open through election day on Sunday, September 13. Voters can use any early-voting location in Sweden.

Anyone who changes their mind can vote again at their assigned polling station on election day. Only the most recent vote counts, the Election Authority says.
