A new five-party majority in Region Stockholm has pledged to freeze SL fares next year and open another urgent-care clinic. The agreement brings the Christian Democrats and Liberals into a Social Democrat-led coalition governing Sweden’s largest region.

The Social Democrats, Greens, Centre Party, Christian Democrats and Liberals announced the coalition on Wednesday. It replaces the previous arrangement in which S, C and MP governed with Left Party support.

The promised fare freeze covers ordinary and discounted SL tickets, Mitt i reported. It does not guarantee that the half-price travel-pass scheme will continue: the coalition is awaiting an evaluation and decisions from a new national government.

The parties also plan a new urgent-care clinic, whose location has not been decided, and a regional tax cut of five öre. They say healthcare funding and shorter queues remain priorities.

Social Democrat Aida Hadžialić said the coalition would avoid major decisions that substantially shift the balance between public and private healthcare. The Christian Democrats take responsibility for the health and medical care committee, while the Social Democrats take over primary care.
