Social Democrats file KU complaint over Kristersson’s security handling

The Social Democrats have filed a complaint asking parliament’s Constitution Committee to examine Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson’s handling of reported security concerns involving a Sweden Democrat staffer.

The move follows Omni’s report on Friday. Social Democrat justice spokesperson Teresa Carvalho said the public deserved answers and accused the prime minister of failing to clarify what happened during the past week.

The underlying allegations come from Expo, which reported that an SD political staffer assigned to the Constitution Committee had spread pro-Russian narratives online and had contacts in networks linked to Russian institutions. The claims remain reported allegations, not findings by KU.

The staffer lives with Gustav Gellerbrant, head of the Sweden Democrats’ coordination office at the Government Offices. After the reporting, Gellerbrant took immediate parental leave and deposited his access card and computer, according to the accounts cited by Omni.

Kristersson and Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer previously said the Sweden Democrats should act if the allegations were correct. The Social Democrats are now asking for formal parliamentary scrutiny of the prime minister’s response.

A KU complaint is a request for review, not a verdict. The committee decides what to investigate and later reports its conclusions to parliament.
