Suspected neo-Nazi attack targets Social Democrats' Sölvesborg office

A suspected neo-Nazi attack targeted the Social Democrats' office in Sölvesborg early Wednesday. Two men reportedly shouted Nazi slogans as a window was smashed and an attempt was made to ignite the premises.

Police were called at 02:10. A man in his 35s was detained on suspicion of attempted arson, vandalism and a vehicle-taking offence. Officers found a petrol can and a bag containing stones at the scene, according to Omni's report.

The Nazi slogans were reported by Blekinge Läns Tidning. Police have not publicly announced a final motive, and the detained man has not been convicted.

Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson called the incident a Nazi attack and said attacks on political parties do not belong in Sweden. She said threats and violence by Nazis and other divisive forces must not be allowed to frighten people away from political engagement, Omni reported.
