Greens seek government help to draft deportation stop law

The Greens want Sweden’s caretaker government to lend its legislative experts to the parliamentary effort to stop teenage deportations, arguing that their help could speed up drafting.
Green MP Annika Hirvonen told SVT Tuesday’s unanimous committee vote improved the prospects for cooperation. The red-green parties have majorities in both the committee and parliament, but drafting legislation through a committee can take time.
Migration Minister Johan Forssell said government officials could answer questions or otherwise assist. He questioned whether a stop law was needed. No such law has been adopted.
