Around 500 municipal water customers between Eksta and Näs on Gotland must keep boiling drinking water as supplies return after an outage. The fault has been repaired, but water-quality checks are still outstanding.

Region Gotland says water must be brought to a vigorous boil before drinking, cooking or brushing teeth. Boiled water should also be used for ice and washing fruit or vegetables that will be eaten raw.

Drinking water is available from a tank at Silte Snausarve 101. Showers, laundry and toilets can be used normally, but residents should avoid swallowing shower water.

The recommendation is precautionary: the region has not reported finding bacteria. Pressure was lost in the pipes, creating a risk that contamination could enter. Crews will flush the network and take new samples.

Results are expected on Friday, 23 October, when the region plans to say whether boiling can stop. Water may initially look white or cloudy because of air in the pipes; this usually clears after running the cold tap briefly.
