Wrong man deported after two identities were mixed up
A man was deported from Sweden this spring after Skatteverket mixed up his identity with another person's and a criminal conviction reportedly entered the wrong case.

Sveriges Radio reports that the man's employer complained to the Parliamentary Ombudsman after the error was discovered. According to the complaint, the other person had been convicted of aggravated drink-driving in 2019.
The complaint says the Migration Agency referred to that conviction among its reasons for deportation, even though it belonged to the other identity. DailySweden has not independently reviewed the deportation decision.
Skatteverket has acknowledged the mix-up and apologised in its response to the Ombudsman. The Parliamentary Ombudsman is investigating the case.
The case raises a basic safeguard question: how an identity error passed between authorities before a life-changing decision was enforced.
