Three Babybay bedside cribs recalled over strangulation and fall risks

Parents and carers who own one of three Babybay bedside cribs should stop using it immediately and return it for a full refund, according to Sweden's consumer authority.

The affected products are Babybay Original in natural, white and dark brown (107555, 107556 and 107557); Bedside Crib Maxi in white and grey (378791 and 378792); and Bedside Crib Boxspring in white, grey and natural (378796, 378797 and 428738).

Konsumentverket says the long side can be set low enough for an infant to roll out or become trapped between the crib and an adult bed, creating fall and strangulation risks. The authority ordered three Swedish retailers to recall models with a fully collapsible long side. The orders have been appealed but apply while the administrative court considers them.

Both Babyland and Stor & Liten tell customers to register a return. They say a full refund will be issued after the item is received. Anyone who sold or gave away a crib should alert its new owner.
