Sweden’s embassy is warning travellers in France to stay alert and avoid crowds ahead of a general strike announced for 5 November. Protest-related traffic disruption and clashes with police may occur.

The date appears in updated advice from Krisinformation, Sweden’s official emergency-information service. Its previous notice highlighted demonstrations on 24 and 31 October, with possible strikes but no date for this general strike.

Travellers in France should follow local authorities’ instructions. The updated notice also covers demonstrations expected in Germany on 31 October and recurring protests in Albania, particularly around government buildings, parliament and the Pyramid in central Tirana.

The Swedish embassy advises people in Albania to avoid demonstrations and large crowds, and seek shelter indoors if necessary. In Germany, it advises travellers to follow reliable news and be ready for conditions to change quickly.

Check the relevant Swedish embassy’s current travel information before setting out, as the advice differs between countries.
