Swedish firms move production to the US to avoid tariffs

More Swedish companies are moving parts of their operations to the United States to avoid tariffs, according to Business Sweden. The organisation has not named any company making the move specifically because of the duties.

The automotive industry is under particular pressure and recorded a fall in exports in 2025, Sveriges Radio reports.

Business Sweden’s US head, Johan Karlberg, says the effect is uneven: some Swedish businesses gain an advantage because tariffs hit their competitors harder.

The report describes a change in where companies operate. It provides neither a count of firms relocating because of tariffs nor a figure for jobs affected.
