Sweden’s embassy is urging travellers in France to avoid crowds, remain alert and follow local authorities’ instructions amid student protests. Further nationwide protests are planned for 24 and 31 October, and strikes may also take place.

Paris and the surrounding Île-de-France region, Lyon and Marseille are particularly affected, according to the embassy’s advice published by Krisinformation.

The embassy warns that clashes between demonstrators and police, burning barricades and traffic disruption may occur. The protests have been taking place for several weeks.

The extent of disruption on the two planned protest dates remains unclear. Travellers should follow the embassy’s current advice and local instructions as the situation develops.
