Swedish fuel chains raised diesel prices by about SEK 1.40 per litre over two days, passing a rapid rise in global oil prices on to drivers.
Diesel increased by SEK 0.60 on Tuesday and a further SEK 0.80 on Wednesday, according to company prices reported by SVT and TT. Petrol rose by just over SEK 0.50 per litre across the same period.
The changes put diesel at roughly SEK 18.60 per litre and petrol just above SEK 15. The listed company prices indicate equivalent increases for private motorists, SVT reported.
The increase followed renewed fighting between the United States and Iran and disruption around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil shipments. The new pump prices are an immediate cost increase; the source does not forecast how long they will last.
