Sweden is short 61,000 workers. It recognised 16,599 foreign qualifications.
The country has already identified part of the answer to its skills gap. Employers still decide whether recognised competence becomes a job.
Swedish employers said work went undone in 2025 because they were short of about 61,000 people. Nearly 30,000 of those missing workers were in occupations that usually require post-secondary education, according to Statistics Sweden.
