Record election appeals force Sweden’s review board to add staff

Sweden’s Election Review Board has brought in extra staff to handle a record number of appeals after the election. Internet influence campaigns are suspected of contributing to the rise, according to Sveriges Radio.

Many appeals concern the same incident, the board’s head of office, Emma Hellman, tells Sveriges Radio.

Hellman says having more people report the same situation does not affect the board’s work. The increase in submissions therefore should not be read as a count of separate alleged incidents.
