Sweden's employment rate rises as joblessness falls for seventh month
Sweden's employment rate rose in June while unemployment fell for a seventh consecutive month, new figures from Statistics Sweden show.

The number of employed people aged 15 to 74 reached 5,389,000, up 32,000 from June 2025. Foreign-born workers accounted for most of the increase: 13,000 more foreign-born women and 11,000 more foreign-born men were employed.
Among people aged 20 to 64, the employment rate was 81.8%, up 0.3 percentage points in a year. Unemployment among 20- to 65-year-olds fell by 13,000 to 267,000, or 5.1%. Statistics Sweden said the rate was below the average recorded since 2020.
Separate payroll data published on Friday counted 5,665,000 ongoing jobs in June, 0.9% more than a year earlier. Jobs lasting six months or less rose 0.4% overall, but fell 0.6% for women. The decline was sharpest in municipal and regional employment, at 4.9% and 4.7% respectively.
The figures describe the national labour market; they do not measure whether an individual job search has become easier.
