Six in ten Swedes now use AI services

AI services have become part of everyday life for six in ten Swedes, up from four in ten a year earlier. Work and study are helping drive that growth, although wider use does not always mean people feel more productive.

Internetstiftelsen’s 2026 report, released on Monday, finds that one in five Swedes now uses AI services every day. More than eight in ten students and seven in ten white-collar workers use them.

ChatGPT is the most widely used service, reaching 52% of Swedes. Copilot comes second, used by just under one in five.

The report separates use of AI services from exposure to Google’s AI search summaries. Including those summaries takes overall AI use above eight in ten.

But adoption and perceived benefit are different measures. Only half of Swedes feel AI makes them more efficient, compared with nearly eight in ten students who say it helps their studies.
