Stockholm postpones regional assembly amid political deadlock

Stockholm’s regional assembly has postponed its first post-election meeting by two weeks as parties struggle to agree on a new administration. The meeting planned for 20 October will now take place on 3 November.
The region’s calendar confirms the change and lists the new meeting for 09:00 at Landstingshuset.
According to Sveriges Radio, the Social Democrats are seeking a minority administration with the Greens, Liberals and Centre Party. The Left Party, whose votes are needed, is being kept outside that proposed administration.
The regional assembly sets the region’s overall goals and budget and appoints its committees and boards. The delay leaves the first meeting of the newly elected assembly waiting on the unresolved political situation.
