Speaker sets new government talks for Wednesday

Speaker Andreas Norlén will meet party representatives on Wednesday morning, 30 September, as Sweden’s search for a new prime minister continues after Magdalena Andersson ended her attempt to form a government.

Norlén will hold separate consultations with representatives of every parliamentary party except the Social Democrats, according to the Riksdag’s announcement. He has already met the Social Democrats in connection with Andersson returning her exploratory mandate.

The meetings will take place in the Speaker’s office. The announcement says exact times will be released later.

Norlén gave Andersson the task of exploring the possibilities for a government on 18 September. She reported back on Monday, 28 September, and said she was ending that assignment.

Wednesday’s consultations are the next announced step towards a proposal for prime minister. The notice does not name a new candidate or announce an agreement between the parties.
