Snow and slush could disrupt Thursday travel in central Sweden

Snow and wet snow could make Thursday journeys slower and more difficult across northern Värmland, Dalarna west of Siljan and southern Jämtland. A yellow warning runs from Thursday morning until late evening on 8 October.

Krisinformation says rain will increasingly turn to snow or wet snow during Thursday. At times the snowfall could be heavy, reducing visibility.

The ground is still relatively warm, so much of the snow is expected to turn quickly to slush rather than build up on roads. Slippery surfaces, accidents or stranded vehicles could nevertheless make routes difficult to pass.

Travellers should allow more time and adjust their speed to road conditions and visibility. Public transport could face delays or cancellations.

Near-zero temperatures also bring a risk of disruption to electricity and telephone networks where lines run overhead. Check the current warning and your operator’s travel information before setting off.
