The Sweden Democrats want people who have acquired Swedish citizenship to qualify for Sweden's repatriation grant if they relinquish their citizenship and leave the country.

The grant is worth SEK 350,000 per adult. It is currently aimed mainly at people who hold residence permits after seeking protection in Sweden, along with certain relatives.

SD migration spokesperson Ludvig Aspling argues that the existing eligibility rules are too narrow. Sveriges Radio reported that other parties have shown little interest in extending the scheme.

The proposal would connect a substantial public payment to surrendering citizenship. However, this remains an SD proposal - not an adopted government policy or law. No timetable, legislative mechanism or detailed safeguards were presented in the report.
