Greens gain as Liberals fall below 4% in first post-election poll

The Greens have risen to 7.1% and the Liberals fallen to 3.7% in the first Verian voting-intention poll since Sweden’s election. The Liberal figure puts the party below the 4% parliamentary threshold in the survey.
The SVT/Verian poll puts the Moderates at 22.3%, up from 19.9% in the election. The Greens won 6.1% in the election; Verian describes both parties’ increases as statistically significant. The Liberals received 5.3% in the election.
The Sweden Democrats stand at 17.2%, giving the Moderates a 5.1-point lead. Verian’s head of opinion research, Per Söderpalm, says the survey shows no large movements between the political blocs.
Fieldwork ran from 28 September to 11 October. The survey uses about 3,000 interviews, mainly from a randomly recruited panel, supplemented by telephone interviews with people aged 85 and over. Responses are weighted for demographic factors and previous voting behaviour.
The findings measure voting intentions during the government negotiations. They do not change the seats awarded in September’s election.
