Drivers faced petrol prices around a krona a litre higher on Thursday after a temporary energy-tax cut expired. Another tax reduction is due to end in December, adding to the pressure on household travel costs.

SVT Halland reported petrol prices about a krona per litre higher than the previous day as the energy-tax reduction ended. At one filling station in Falkenberg, the displayed price was 18.44 kronor a litre.

That is one local observation, rather than a single price applying at every Swedish station.

The next scheduled change is on 1 December, when a temporary reduction in carbon-dioxide tax is due to expire. SVT reports that it could add roughly three kronor a litre. The final pump price will also depend on other costs and market movements.
