Road traffic across the Øresund Bridge will be restricted for about eight weeks from 31 August while two of the crossing’s largest expansion joints are replaced.

The bridge operator says one lane will remain open in each direction along roughly 1.5 kilometres, with lower speed limits through the work zone. Preparatory barriers will affect traffic from 29 August, and the project is due to run until the end of October.
Vehicles wider than 3.75 metres and transports heavier than 100 tonnes cannot use the crossing during the work. Rail services are not affected.
The joints allow the bridge to move with temperature and load changes. Replacing two at once is intended to shorten the full maintenance programme by a year. Drivers are advised to avoid the busiest periods where possible and allow extra travel time.
