EU citizens can start working in Sweden without waiting for a residence permit, but that freedom does not make every registration route interchangeable. The intended length of the stay changes which Swedish record and identity number applies.

The Migration Agency's current EU guidance says an EU or EEA citizen may work, study, run a business or live on their own funds without a residence permit. For a stay beyond three months, the person must
