Social Democrats and Moderates agree joint rule in 54 municipalities

Social Democrats and Moderates have agreed to govern together in 54 Swedish municipalities after the election, including 22 new partnerships.
A national compilation by Ekot and P4 lists 32 municipalities continuing an existing partnership between the parties. Another 18 previous partnerships are ending. Some governing coalitions also include other parties.
The figures describe agreements known on 16 October. About a third of Sweden’s 290 municipalities had still not announced their governing arrangements, so the list is an incomplete picture of the coming term.
Eskilstuna is entering a fourth consecutive term of cooperation between the two parties. Trelleborg is among the new partnerships, alongside Gävle, Kalmar and Åre. In Bollnäs, the parties are going separate ways.
The new deals outnumber the dissolved partnerships in the compilation, but unresolved municipalities mean the final national balance is still open.
