Mohamsson on Åkesson’s snub: “Loser mentality”
With Liberals polling at 1.9%, SD leader Jimmie Åkesson says Tidö voters should choose another party if the Liberals remain below 3.5% ten days before Sweden votes. Simona Mohamsson says that is “loser mentality” and the bloc should focus on winning in 2026, not planning for 2030.

Åkesson set the threshold during SVT’s party-leader interview on Sunday. He said Moderate and Christian Democrat voters could decide whether to lend the Liberals tactical support, but added that Sweden Democrat voters should not do so.
The parliamentary threshold is 4%. In the August poll, based on roughly 3,000 interviews, the Liberals received 1.9%.
Mohamsson told reporters on Monday that at least one leader on the right still believed wholeheartedly in the Tidö project. She argued that without the Liberals there would be no blue-yellow majority, no Ulf Kristersson as prime minister and no path for Åkesson to become a minister.
Asked whether she had spoken to Åkesson after his intervention, Mohamsson replied: “Why would I? The full focus is on the election campaign.”
Sweden votes on 13 September. Early voting inside Sweden begins on Wednesday, 26 August, according to the Election Authority.
