Drone pilots in Lycksele and Vindeln still face airspace restrictions on Friday, the final scheduled day of a joint police and military exercise. Normal civilian flights to and from Lycksele airport can continue.

The exercise runs from 29 September to 2 October. Police say it centres on Lycksele and the area towards Åmsele and further south, with the two services practising the protection of essential infrastructure and services.

Helicopters and drones are being used alongside personnel and vehicles in forests, towns and on local roads. Residents may hear loud bangs. The public is asked to keep away from the exercise area and respect cordons.

For drone users, the scheduled end date is not a substitute for checking the current restrictions. Police direct pilots to Luftfartsverket’s drone map and say surveillance equipment will be used to detect breaches.

The restrictions are also covered in Krisinformation’s public notice. Police ask people to avoid sharing photographs of vehicles and equipment taking part in the exercise on social media.
