The Social Democrats and Greens want parliament to reopen its scrutiny of Ulf Kristersson’s handling of the Landerholm affair after the former national security adviser’s conviction. The Moderates say the review should wait until the judgment is final.

The constitutional committee, known as KU, paused its examination in spring 2025 while the criminal proceedings were under way, TV4 reports.

Social Democrat Jennie Nilsson, the committee’s vice-chair, says her party will seek a majority to resume the review and establish what the prime minister knew and when. Green parliamentary leader Annika Hirvonen wants Kristersson called before the committee.

Mats Green, the Moderates’ committee leader, says scrutiny should resume once there is a final judgment and argues that changing the timing would politicise the proceedings.

The demands do not establish that KU has decided to reopen its review. The parliamentary question concerns Kristersson’s conduct; Monday’s criminal conviction concerned Henrik Landerholm’s handling of secret information.
