Kristersson calls for another prime-minister vote on Andersson

Caretaker prime minister Ulf Kristersson says Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson should face the next parliamentary vote on Sweden’s premiership. His call comes while Centre leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist is exploring a possible government.
Kristersson told Sveriges Radio on Tuesday that another vote on Andersson would be the reasonable next step. Andersson said that possibility had not been discussed, as far as she knew.
Parliament rejected Andersson on 15 October by 248 votes to 99. All 70 Moderate MPs voted against her. Kristersson’s new statement calls for another test; it does not announce Moderate support for her candidacy.
Speaker Andreas Norlén gave Thand Ringqvist an exploratory mandate on Monday. She must report by 26 October. No decision on the next prime-minister vote has been announced.
