Green Party co-leader Daniel Helldén received SEK 20,766 in pension from Stockholm city in September while also receiving his parliamentary salary.

Dagens Nyheter, which obtained the city’s payment records, reports that he has received SEK 982,690 since leaving Stockholm politics in 2022. The newspaper puts his current parliamentary pay at SEK 81,400 a month.

His press secretary, Fredrik Elisson, confirmed the pension and said it follows the rules that applied when Helldén was a city councillor. The amount is reduced to take account of his current pay, which his office says he reports regularly.

The payments are permitted under an older pension agreement covering eligible politicians whose service began before 2014. Later entrants fall under a different, more time-limited system.

DN also reports that former Moderate councillor Mikael Söderlund received SEK 59,549 in September under the same agreement. He told the newspaper that he follows the rules and reports his employment income monthly.
