The Greens want the red-green parties to seek budget agreements despite the unresolved government talks, challenging the Left Party’s insistence on settling the governing arrangement first.

Janine Alm Ericson, the Greens’ economic policy spokesperson, told TV4 that it was regrettable the Left was not ready to negotiate. She said the parties had an electoral responsibility to deliver policy and should try to agree as much as possible.

The Left instead supports a caretaker budget, with the possibility of a joint amending budget if a red-green government is formed later. No shared red-green budget has been announced.

The disagreement concerns spending plans as well as cabinet membership. Parliament will first test Magdalena Andersson’s nomination as prime minister in a vote on Thursday.
