First new E20 section past Mariestad opens Friday
Drivers will gain access on Friday to the first completed part of the new E20 past Mariestad, with two lanes in each direction and a 100 km/h speed limit.

Trafikverket says the Hindsberg to Muggebo section will open on 4 September. Every at-grade crossing has been removed, while small direct road entrances have been replaced by interchanges and connecting roads.
The E20 is a major freight and passenger route linking Malmö, Gothenburg and Stockholm. The agency says the rebuilt section is intended to improve capacity, journey times and road safety around Mariestad.
This is the first completed piece of the wider E20 programme through Mariestad and Götene. Remaining sections are due to open progressively through 2028.
