CSN support rises by 92 kronor — mostly in loans

Students receiving full CSN support will get 92 kronor more for every four weeks of study from January. The increase in the grant itself is considerably smaller.

The total will rise to 13,684 kronor from 1 January 2027, CSN announced. Of the increase, 28 kronor is grant money and 64 kronor is additional borrowing.

Students will also be able to earn more before their support is affected. For someone studying for 20 weeks, the income allowance will be 115,451 kronor per calendar half-year.

The supplementary loan available to qualifying students with previous earnings will rise to 4,720 kronor per four weeks. The additional grant for students with children will be 784 kronor for one child and 1,284 kronor for two.

The changes follow the increase in Sweden’s price base amount, which is used to calculate several benefits. The upper-secondary study grant follows a different rule: it remains at 1,250 kronor a month.
