The Centre Party has agreed to govern with the Sweden Democrats in seven municipalities and the Left Party in 37, even as it explores a national government excluding both parties.

The new count, reported by Ekot on Thursday, shows more local partnerships with each party than before the election. Negotiations have finished in 200 of Sweden’s 290 municipalities, so the picture remains incomplete.

Centre is part of the administration in half of those 200 municipalities, usually through agreements crossing the traditional political blocs.

Nationally, leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist has a mandate to explore a government in the political centre. The municipal agreements show that Centre’s national boundaries against SD and V do not apply uniformly to the councils where it shares power.
