Centre leader keeps SD red line after first political talks

Centre Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist says her first political talks with Jimmie Åkesson have not changed her refusal to support a government containing the Sweden Democrats. She has now met every party leader in her attempt to find a government Sweden’s parliament can tolerate.
In a Friday interview, she told SVT that C and SD were close on some rural-development questions, but that her party’s position on an SD government remained unchanged.
Thand Ringqvist said Magdalena Andersson remained the most likely prime minister from the Centre Party’s perspective. She had not yet settled what to tell the Speaker and still saw interest in policies pursued from the political centre.
Her final meeting was with Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar. Asked whether V could offer anything that would soften C’s opposition to its entering government, she said the parties remained far apart politically and ideologically.
Speaker Andreas Norlén will receive her report on Monday at 10am.
