Busch says Sweden Democrats are not guaranteed ministerial posts

Ebba Busch has opened a direct pre-election dispute over who would sit in a new right-bloc government, saying the Sweden Democrats are not guaranteed any ministerial posts.

The Christian Democrats leader wrote that a "blue-yellow government" could contain one, two, three or four parties. "For me, for example, it is not a given that SD should have any ministerial posts at all," she said in remarks reported by SVT.

Busch, Sweden's deputy prime minister, said she had not promised posts to anyone and argued the election campaign had focused too heavily on government formation instead of policy.

Sweden Democrats leader Jimmie Åkesson replied that his party would not support a government it did not join. He said he remained worried about where KD might turn if the current governing bloc failed to win its own majority.

The clash leaves voters with a central question unresolved four days before the 13 September election: even if the right wins, the parties have not agreed who would govern or whether SD would enter the cabinet.
