Flooding has closed roads and inundated homes in western Sweden, while Bro school in Bohuslän is moving its pupils to another school from Friday after water entered the building.

Sotenäs municipality reported flooded road sections and basements across the municipality on Thursday, 8 October. Rescue crews were working through the morning after heavy rain and thunderstorms.

In nearby Lysekil, the municipality said Bro school in Brodalen would close for the day. Its activities will move to Stångenässkolan from 9 October, initially through the autumn school break. Families should check the Haldor school platform for arrangements.

SVT’s reporting described flooding in several municipalities and quoted Trafikverket urging people to avoid unnecessary journeys and not drive through water of unknown depth.

SMHI has issued a yellow high-flow warning for Bohuslän, Dalsland and south-western Värmland until 04:00 on Friday. Official advice is to keep drainage routes clear and protect property in exposed locations. Rain is expected to ease during Thursday afternoon, but the warning covers continuing flood risk.
