Parliament to vote on Andersson as prime minister on Thursday

Sweden’s parliament will vote on Magdalena Andersson as prime minister at noon on Thursday, 15 October, testing support for a government made up only of Social Democrats.
Speaker Andreas Norlén formally nominated her on Tuesday after she reported that continuing exploratory talks would serve no purpose for now, according to the Riksdag’s announcement. The proposal was tabled on Tuesday and will be tabled a second time on Wednesday before the vote.
Andersson expects to lose. The Left Party and Greens say they will vote against an S-only government, while the Centre Party has not yet announced its position, SVT reports.
If she is rejected, Norlén plans to telephone party leaders about the next step rather than summon another round of meetings in his office. He says this would signal a faster pace in the search for a government.
The vote moves the process beyond exploratory talks. Four rejected prime-minister proposals would trigger an extra election.
